Serena Williams has given life to her dream home in a quaint enclave, just north of Miami, near her parents’ and sister’s house. The professional tennis player got her hands on these 14,500 square feet of property five years ago, choosing her sister’s interior designing firm, V Starr, to deck out the place as per Serena’s plans.

Last year, in July, the Spanish Mediterranean-style home welcomed its new inhabitants, Serena Williams, along with her husband, the business tycoon, Alexis Ohanian, and their little princess.

When Williams had acquired the home and started renovating it, Ohanian and Alexis were nowhere in sight, but they soon entered her life. Venus, William’s elder sister, was the obvious choice for William to entrust the renovation plans to since both have occupied prominent roles in each other’s lives far beyond that of regular siblings.

They have been each other’s team players, competitors in the court, roommates, and of course, best friends. The duo had occupied and co-owned the Palms Beach Property since 1998, and throughout the years, both of them retreated to it to enjoy each other’s companionship.

Serena Switches It Up

Though occasionally, Serena Williams changed her location from her Bel Air Mansion to Paris, her official residence remained the one she shared with her sister. Thus, Williams’s waterfront property holds a whole new significance of its own since it announces a life independent of her sister’s influence as co-inhabitant. To maintain a touch of nostalgia, Venus played her hand across every venue of this new home, deciding it to suit her sister’s likes and dislikes.

Over the course of the renovation, which extended for three years, Williams displayed a complete change of preferences where she earlier favored traditional designs but later insisted on adopting a minimalist lifestyle, influenced by her love of modern art and new technology.

The house is void of a living room since the couple considers it a complete waste of precious space. Instead, they have used their living room as a place to exhibit art and explore their passion for traveling the world by displaying souvenirs of their visits around the globe.

The only exaggerated domain in her house is her daughter’s room, furnished all in pink, with a big castle bed with an in-built slide stealing the limelight of the room. Other than this room, the entire house complements Serena’s complacent personality with high roofs, warm wood, and neutral colors. As strange as it seems, the house does not have a tennis court since the tennis star wanted it to be a place for comfort and a clear break from her professional life.
