Despite holding such a traditional position, Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge is a modern woman through and through. She performs important duties and responsibilities that not many people can handle. And now, she’s gotten another role to add to her already impressive resume.

Leading the Scouts

The mother of three was just named as co-president of The Scout Association. She shares the position with Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, who is Queen Elizabeth II’s first cousin.

Middleton is reportedly the first woman to become president of the organization, which also happens to be the largest of its kind in the United Kingdom. This also marks the Duchess’ first presidency role.

In a statement, she expressed her delight in working with the Duke of Kent and said that she’s looking forward to helping Scouts across the nation as they try to leave a positive impact on society.

Middleton’s new job may not come as a surprise to many royal observers, though.

For starters, she was a Brownie herself when she was younger. She was reportedly part of the 1st St Andrew’s Brownies pack in Berkshire when she was eight years old.

Although Brownies are part of a separate organization, the Girl Guides, from the Scouts, the two would often work together. Middleton also had the chance to interact with modern scouts as she’s made visits to children who are part of the Palace’s ‘The Scouts’ program in the past.

The 37-year-old Duchess is also known for being able to quickly build rapport with children during official engagements. All that said, she seems to be a great pick for president of The Scout Association.

More Responsibilities

Middleton and her husband, Prince William, have notably taken on more responsibilities this year. First, they were left to pick up the pieces when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle officially departed from their positions in the royal family.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge of Cambridge also had to step up when Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip needed to go into relative exile to avoid catching COVID-19 due to their advanced age.

In the end, though, these added responsibilities may be blessings in disguise for the couple. Being the future King and Queen Consort of the United Kingdom, they would need all the preparation they can get before they officially inherit those titles someday.
