Leave it to Taylor Swift to wow the crowds and impress everyone with her amazing album filled with soulful lyrics. Even Swift’s biggest rivals compliment her writing, so there must be something special about it, right? Well, with her latest album, she has once again proved herself as a great musician. Fans went into a frenzy when the superstar announced her 10th studio album ‘Midnights.’

In her statement, the “Love Story” singer explained how this album is a story of the sleepless nights she has experienced throughout her career. In simpler words, this album explores Swift’s feelings through some of the best and the worst times of her career. But, in true Taylor Swift fashion, this album is loaded with fun and catchy tunes that may have you singing along whenever you hear them.

So, let’s grab a cup of coffee and explore ‘Midnights.’

The Songs

The album, “Midnights,” opens a door for her fans to sneak a peek into the life of the singer-songwriter with tracks like ‘Anti-Hero’ and ‘Midnights,’ which both happen to be loved by the crowds. Built with impressive hooks and catchy tunes, fans love the Kate Bush-inspired number, making them one of the high points of the album.

In her songs like ‘Mastermind’ and ‘Vigilante Shit’, Taylor goes into the dark side, painting her own villain story. This was also a dig at the critics who often call out Swift for always playing the victim. Then you have tracks like ‘Karma,’ which present a fun beat with interesting lyrics. For some songs, like bejeweled, she goes back to her signature pop style with generic lyrics written masterfully.

More Music, Less Vocals

Throughout the album, Swift has taken a back seat with her vocals, especially on songs like ‘You’re on your own, kid’, ‘Maroon’, and especially in the song ‘Snow on the Beach’ that was in collaboration with Lana Del Rey. Her voice does take the lead in ‘Sweet Nothing,’ which is a song she wrote with her partner Joe Alwyn under the pen name William Bowery.

A Reinvention

This is definitely a change in Taylor’s style, especially after her pandemic albums, folklore, and evermore, which were spontaneously created. Those albums allowed Swift to explore not only her writing skills but her ability to reinvent herself and take her fans on a journey through music.

With Midnights, fans received a glimpse of the pre-pandemic Taylor Swift, which might not be good in the name of art but good for sales. Now that her Era’s Tour is making headlines, maybe the world needs some ‘Midnights.’
