When Meghan Markle started dating perhaps one of the most in-demand bachelors of today, it gained mixed reactions – a lot of people were happy and described the relationship a match made in heaven while others turned green in envy.
So when everything got serious, leading to the royal to propose to his love, those who rooted for them cheered on, and some tried their hardest to dig out her dirt, thinking she wasn’t deserving of the man from an influential family.
Getting to Know Samantha
Being a former actress, Meghan is probably used to bad headlines malicious comments on social media.
After all, she’s shining her brightest now that she’s happily married and well on her way to welcoming their first child.
She even revealed recently that she’s not looking at Twitter anymore nor does she reads headlines about her. But perhaps, one that could easily affect her are hurtful words that come from her own family, the loudest noise coming from her half-sister Samantha.
Fans of the former “Suits” actress would know Samantha too well, she has been outspoken with her nonstop tirades against Meghan for the longest time.
Although the logical thing to do is to give decency to the whole Markle clan, the infamous half-sister has casually made her opinions heard by inviting herself and granting interviews to lambast the now Duchess of Sussex.
Some of her claims are so outrageous that it would surprise you how calm the 37-year-old is amidst all these. So what’s the deal between the two of them?
Fondness for Show Business
Samantha has worked as an actress as well just like her little sis. In fact, her family is into show business, their father, Thomas, used to be a lighting director for several shows like “General Hospital” and “Married with Children.”
However, unlike Meghan who went on to become a successful thespian thanks to her Rachel Zane character in the legal drama series “Suits,” the older woman only had “Matlock” as her credit.
Although they had acting as a common factor, not everything went well as they were growing up.
They have a 16-year gap, albeit this wasn’t a problem when they were still kids. According to Samantha, they had a pretty close bond when they were little and in one interview, she revealed that she even taught Meghan to walk.
They were so close that the younger sibling had a special nickname for her, “Daffy Duck,” because she used to make the sounds of the Looney Tunes character.
But over the years before Meghan even met Prince Harry, Samantha and her sister just grew apart, but the bond was still there, the eldest said.
In fact, she said she last saw her younger sibling in 2008, during the Duchess’ graduation from college.
They haven’t been in contact when news broke out that the now-expectant was dating a member of the royal family – coincidentally, this is also the first time she went out of her way and criticized her half-sister, who she said had always dreamt of becoming a princess.
Months after her first shot at her little sister, Samantha went on it again and threw a string of claims blasting out Meghan, even threatening her that she would release a memoir, reportedly titled “The Diary of Princess Pushy’s Sister,” which could potentially stain the other’s reputation.
By October, the woman who kept on releasing scathing messages against her sis had a change of heart and even brushed off the rumored feud.
Change of Heart?
So when it was announced by November 2017 that Prince Harry and her girlfriend were engaged, Samantha naturally had something to say, but this time, she praised and congratulated the couple.
She even narrated that the patriarch was delighted about the news although they only learned it from a secondhand source.
Months leading to the much-awaited royal wedding last year, the older sister had kept taking it to social media to ask why she or most of the family members weren’t invited and even pleaded for one.
Samantha nor her father were at the aforementioned event and even during Meghan’s first wedding with Trevor Engelson.
After this, she again started her spree of making contradicting comments on social media – at one point she said she’s not taking not being invited personally but in another, she made fun of the Duchess of Sussex’s coat of arms.
The months after that were just filled with Samantha hitting her sister for many reasons – for not supporting their father, Meghan’s humanitarian efforts weren’t impressive.
To make matters worse, she seemed far from done from berating the now-royal. Last Christmas, she sent well-wishes and on the next day, she retracted what she said. Judging with everything that’s happening, the drama is here to stay.
