Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet shocked all Hollywood and their loyal fans with the news of their split up last week. Aquaman star and hunk Momoa, 42 years old and Cosby Show star Bonet, aged 54, had been together for 16 long years.

Timeline of their romantic relationship

Momoa and Bonet’s relationship defined romance and an ultimate relationship goal. The lovebirds met through mutual friends at a Los Angeles jazz club in the early 2000s. Bonet reported in an interview that the two of them felt a spark at that moment and have been together since then.

They went out to a little cafe that night, and the rest is history. In July of 2007, Bonet gave birth to a beautiful baby daughter Lola. This was Bonet’s second daughter, but first with Momoa. Her first daughter was from her previous marriage that ended in 1993 when she married Lenny Kravitz.

Shortly after the birth, Lola’s fans started speculating that the lovebirds had tied the knot with the spreading rumors. But neither Momoa nor Bonet confirmed those rumors.

In the December of 2008, the pair welcomed their second child, a son they named Nokao Wolf. Years before, in 2004, they shared the screen on the film Road to Paloma. The directors reported that the couple brought energy into difficult scenes effortlessly. The film captured real, true, and beautiful scenes that reflected their candid relationship, and the directors kept those performances as it is in the movie without reshooting them.

In October 2017, news finally broke out of their marriage. The two lovers exchanged their vows at their house in Topanga, California. The beautiful ceremony was held between close-knit family members only. Momoa later revealed that he had developed a crush on Bonet when he first saw her on the screen; she was only eight years old then.

Lisa supported Jason’s career by attending premieres of his movies and shows. Jason also showed his support for Lisa by surprising her by restoring her 1965 Ford Mustang, the first car she bought when she turned 17.

Things did not end well for the couple

In January of 2022, Jason and Lisa announced their mutual decision to go separate ways. The news was announced on Instagram, which has since been deleted, showing that the two still respect and care a lot about each other.

They mentioned that their chemistry worked great, but unfortunately, they grew apart because of their different focuses. Jason wishes to keep working on his career while Lisa wants to take an off and shift her complete focus on her family and enjoy their life together in L.A. However, they wish to stay together and support their children as much as possible without impacting their children’s life and mental health.
