On March 26, 2015, during a University of Wisconsin basketball match, an NFL player met a Grammy-winning artist, and they ended up having dinner together. A month later, they attended a White House State Dinner as a couple, and a year down the line, they got married. Fast forward to today, they share two beautiful children, and are one of the strongest couples in the industry.
Any guesses who we’re talking about? Well, it’s none other than Russell and Ciara Wilson!
The pair that’s been setting high couple goals for six years now has recently made headlines for their fifth-anniversary vacation. They shared some sweet pictures from their romantic trip on social media, and their fans couldn’t help but go gaga over their mushiness.
Here’s a quick look at how they celebrated their special moment.
Venice never disappoints, Indeed
Days before celebrating their fifth wedding anniversary, Russell and Ciara Wilson jetted off to Italy. According to Ciara’s Instagram post, it was all Wilson’s plan. And we must say, it was a great one! It’s something unexpected from a rough and tough guy like him, but as they say, wonders do happen.
The couple enjoyed a variety of pasta at the best fine-dine restaurants in Venice, and also engaged in a good amount of shopping for their children who they’d left in Washington.
They had a lot of fun riding on a gondola with an accordion player and singer who were playing nostalgic tunes. The still-much-in-love duo also stopped at a glass maker’s shop to get a heart carved as a memory of their vacation (aww!).
Since there are only a few roads and more canals and footpaths in Venice, the couple took their fancy boat everywhere. They even dressed to impress and carried their own photographer at all their outings.
A much-awaited day
A few days before the trip, while talking to Essence Magazine, Ciara was quoted as saying that she was very excited about completing five years with her hubby.
She continued that she feels very grateful for investing time in herself before entering into a relationship with him. The 35-year-old said if she hadn’t taken time to understand her thoughts and love herself, she would still be single today.
Recalling the time when Russell came into her life, she said she was in a vulnerable place back then since she was raising her son, Future, alone (she shares him with her ex-boyfriend).
She used to worry a lot, but it also gave her a chance to grow for her son’s betterment. She understood that she has to be her best in order to be the best for her son, and also prepare for the new chapter waiting at her door.
