Not every broken relationship leaves a scar! Some leave beautiful memories and a bond greater than friendship. Guess that’s what happened in the case of Drew Barrymore and her ex-husband, Tom Green.
Recently when Green appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show (TDBS), people thought it would be an awkward situation. But guess what? It was the show’s funniest session to date, and it resulted in the revelation of many never-before-heard moments the couple had shared while they were married.
“I’ve never been invited to an ex’s wedding!”
On October 26, 2021, during an episode of TDBS, Green and Barrymore recalled their interesting honeymoon and how meeting after so long felt weird in a good way. Green, who made a virtual appearance on the show in 2020, described the current meeting as better than the previous one, and said he feels nice seeing Barrymore after 20 years. Though the 50-year-old found it weird at first, he was happy that at least it was weird in a positive way.
During a segment dubbed “Drew’s News,” Barrymore even opened up about the road trip to Ireland where she and Green made some wonderful memories. Just when she was explaining why it was the best trip of her life, the mother of two was reminded by Green that it was also their honeymoon, to which the audience broke into laughter. In the same segment, when Ross Matthews, a regular guest on the show, questioned the ex-couple if they will ever go to an ex’s wedding, Green quickly answered that he was never invited to one. The Stealing Harvard star added a fun touch to the moment by giving Barrymore a side-look but soon explained that he completely understands why people avoid inviting their exes.
If you’re wondering why Green gave that look to his ex-wife, it’s because Barrymore married Will Kopelman ten years after divorcing Green, and obvious as it is, she never extended an invitation to him.
“I will always celebrate you!”
Surprisingly, this wasn’t the first time the couple joked about being together. Earlier, when Green made a virtual appearance on the show, Barrymore introduced him, saying that she has always been attracted to comedians and visionaries and people who can make her laugh. And the next guest is someone whom she was so attracted to that she ended up marrying him. At that time, the pair shared that they were speaking to each other after 15 years, and it feels great seeing how far they’ve come since they got divorced.
The 50 First Dates star added to the conversation that coming together after so long and discussing how those years have been is just amazing. She continued that she admires Green a lot and will always celebrate him no matter what.
