In a statement issued by Buckingham Palace on Thursday, October 21, 2021, Queen Elizabeth is reported to be happy and healthy following her overnight stay at a hospital the previous day. The palace stated that the 95-year-old monarch is in good spirits, and there’s nothing to worry about.
FYI, the queen had to cancel her visit to Northern Ireland as per the advice of the doctors, and she underwent some regular checkups on October 20.
A routine checkup
During the Queen’s stay at the hospital, she was subjected to necessary preliminary investigations and was advised to rest for a few days. She left for the hospital on Wednesday afternoon and returned to Windsor castle at lunchtime the very next day, that is, Thursday.
The monarch was advised to take a day off and indulge in some routine checkups as a cautious approach taken up by the medical team. Right after her checkup, on October 21 she was back at her desk performing some light duties.
The Queen’s visit to Northern Ireland
The news that the monarch won’t be visiting Northern Ireland, as planned before, came after her hospital stay. The two-day visit was to mark the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Northern Ireland.
A statement released on Wednesday stated that Her Majesty has graciously accepted the medical advice from her doctors and will be taking some time off from her duties. Further, it was stated that she is in absolutely good health and spirits, but is disappointed to announce that she won’t be visiting Northern Ireland for the auspicious occasion.
Her recent appearance
The Queen made her last public appearance on Tuesday night, that is, October 19, when she along with Prince William, Prince Charles, and other royal officials were seen welcoming international business and investment leaders at the castle in reference to the Global Investment Summit Reception. The event included special guests like Bill Gates and U.S. Presidential envoy for climate, John Kerry.
Ahead of the reception, the Queen was seen addressing the guests and illustrating how people’s ability to connect with one another has helped them navigate great historic challenges.
Her address touched upon how the pandemic had forced everyone to take better care of themselves. How it had threatened people for what they used to take for granted previously. But despite endless hurdles, how everything had inspired us to grow and overcome all hindrances.
