Every family has its own way of marking special occasions, but things can get to a whole new level of “interesting” when it comes to celebrities. Birthdays and anniversaries aside, if there’s anyone who knows how to celebrate a special day, it’s high profile people. Among them, the British royal family is our absolute favorite!
Giving tributes a unique teary-eyed touch, Queen Elizabeth’s Instagram handle honored the late Prince Philip on Father’s Day 2021 by dedicating a social media post to him, alongside a photograph that’s extremely close to Her Majesty’s heart.
The special Father’s Day post
On Sunday, June 20, Queen Elizabeth observed the first Father’s Day since the passing of her husband. The Royal Family Instagram account marked the occasion by posting an eye-catching picture on Instagram which featured the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh alongside her late father (King George VI), and a small Prince Charles (three generations of fathers).
In the photo, the three adults can be seen gazing lovingly at Prince Charles, who is enjoying his time sitting on the back of a statue at Balmoral Castle in Scotland. The post was complimented by a sweet message wishing a Happy Father’s Day to all the dads around the world.
How the post inspired other royals
It’s natural for family members to follow traditions, and that’s what the other members of the royal family did. After the throwback picture was shared, Prince William and Kate Middleton also took to Instagram to celebrate the fathers in the family.
They posted a short clip on their official page, which showed a bulletin board decorated with pictures of Prince William, Prince Charles, Prince Philip, and Kate’s dad Michael Middleton with their children and grandchildren.
Soon Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, also joined the league. The duo shared a couple of pictures with their late fathers and Prince Harry and Prince William on their Instagram handle. They even wrote a message to all the fathers addressing them as “Papas.” The duo wrote that all the fathers living or watching their children from heaven were in their thoughts that day.
Moving on to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, surprisingly, they didn’t post any special messages on social media platforms to mark the day. Perhaps the couple was too busy with the new member of the family, their daughter, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor. However, the duo did send out copies of Markle’s book The Bench to fellow friends and fathers. FYI, The Bench covers the story of a father and a son and is said to be Meghan’s tribute to Harry who is a wonderful father to his son Archie.
The Queen’s unique way of wishing Prince William
A day after celebrating Father’s Day, Queen Elizabeth took to Twitter to wish her grandchild, Prince William on his 39th birthday. She posted several pictures of the Duke of Cambridge at various events.
