Whenever you see a royal title somewhere, doesn’t your mind directly go to the British royal family members? It’s an instant reflex – you can’t deny it. The British royal family is so often the face of royal news that it’s easy to forget over 40 monarchies in the world. Yes, you read that correctly. And most monarch states will shock you, too.
The Royal Family of Monaco
You might think Meghan Markle is the first actress to tie the knot with a prince but, let us tell you a little about the marriage of actress Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier III. From this bond came Prince (and now King) Albert II, the only son and heir to the throne. With fortunes of up to $1 billion to his name, he married Charlene Wittstock, a former Olympic swimmer, in 2011.
What’s the Latest News?
Now that you’re all caught up, it is noteworthy that 2021 marked the tin-aversary for the couple. That’s right, the Monaco royals have been married for ten long years, despite the King’s once-well-known hesitance towards long-term commitments.
Such a strong bond deserves to be celebrated, but, unfortunately for the royals, Princess Charlene remained unable to join her significant other for their 10 year anniversary.
What Went Wrong?
In May, when the Princess was visiting the country in which she was raised, she had to be rushed for an emergency ENT infection procedure. The Monaco Palace confirmed that the royal returned to South Africa only shortly after for a follow-up procedure. During her anniversary, she was still recovering from said surgery.
Princess Charlene spoke to People, stating that she’s never been away from her husband in July. She claimed that it was deeply saddening and difficult. However, she added that the King and she had no choice but to abide by the medical team’s instructions, no matter how difficult it might get. She ended the statement by mentioning what an incredible pillar of support her husband has been through the entire ordeal.
As part of the recovery process, Princess Charlene is restricted from traveling, therefore she will be staying in South Africa until told otherwise by her doctors.
Wrapping It Up
The last couple of days have been hard for the 43-year-old princess but, daily conversations with her husband and children seemingly keep her spirits high. Additionally, on the happy occasion of their 10th anniversary, the world will be receiving a mini-series showcasing their love life.
